Ngunguru village is nestled next to an estuary and is great for water sports with a beach, great spots for kayaking, a ski lane and a number of boat ramps.

When you stay in Ngunguru enjoy a walk among the mangroves behind the community library or along the picturesque waterfront lined with pohutakawa trees. How to Find Ngunguru

Ngunguru is located at the southern end of the stunning Tutukaka Coast, on the East Coast of New Zealand about 20 miinutes drive from the city of Whangarei in Northland. The Tutukaka Coast is well sign-posted from State Highway 1 in Whangarei. From Auckland drive North 2.5 hours to reach the Tutukaka Coast. From the Bay of Islands you can turn off State Highway 1 at Hikurangi to approach the coast via Sandy Bay, or continue until the first traffic lights in Whangarei to reach Ngunguru more quickly. Driving time from the Bay of Islands is just over 1 hour.

With an attractive sand-dune frame estuary, walkways, golf course, beach, cafe and dairy at Ngunguru, not to mention cruises and diving trips to the Poor Knights Islands departing from nearby Tutukaka, you are spoilt for choice when you stay in a Holiday House at Ngunguru.
