This historical private retreat is nestled on the shores of the magical Parengarenga Harbour, Mangrove Bach is one of Northlands best kept secrets according to former guests! Mangrove Bach is the perfect getaway for friends, family and keen fishermen.
Full of character and charm, Mangrove Bach is an open plan bach with cottage décor and exposed native timber interior throughout. A shower over a nice deep bath is there to relax in at the end of the day; the flush toilet is outside in a separate shed. The Bach sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms and full linen and towels are supplied for your stay.
Mangrove Bach is positioned in an excellent location, placed beautifully for maximum sun. Step from the bach to the water to swim, fish, collect oysters or launch your boat with a 4 wheel drive. Boat access is at high tide only in front of Mangrove Bach. The channel is approximately 500 metres at low tide which guests can walk to. Enjoy the company of the local ducks and chickens who like to visit. Please Note: The key for the boat ramp is no longer available.
Enjoy the Far North sub-tropical weather with some of the best fishing spots in the north nearby. A 15 minute drive will take you to the local dairy at Waitaki Landing and 30 to 40 minutes drive away is Cape Reinga, Spirits Bay and Ninety Mile beach.
There is no charcoal BBQ available however if guests wish to bring their own gas BBQ, gas will be provided.
Linen and towels provided with the rental.
With your holiday property manager living locally, we look forward to being of service to you to ensure your stay with us goes well.

Sally was great. Great peaceful place for our Christmas Holiday! Kids enjoyed being so close to the water. Was also great as trips to the Cape and Spirits bay were only a short drive away.

Easy to deal with, thank you. Beautiful place, great perspective on just how lucky we are living here in New Zealand, nice to catch up with Bobby again - Thanks for having our family :)

"Sally was super accomodating on our stay and made sure we were happy with everything once we got settled in. Really knowledgeable on the area etc. 10/10" "Best batch we've ever booked, character and charm. Launch the boat at the front door, what more could you ask for?!"

It is a gorgeous property and we had a fantastic time there. The house is classic Kiwiana bach and met all of our needs. The owner Bobbi is lovely and was happy to help if we needed it. Beds are a bit tough on a not so young body but do-able!

"Easy to deal with, no problems." We had a great time at Mangrove: it's an absolutely top little basic bach for fishing groups. The channel is really a high tide launch only for most boats (unless you're braver than me), but launching down Te Pua road is easy if you have the key. Caught plenty of big snapper and trevs on baits and softbaits, and about 300 million kahawai. Awesome spot. I left my long-serving fishing trip frying pan there (sorry ol' buddy), so enjoy it if you go."

Mangrove batch, in my opinion is the only place to stay in the area. So close to the Harbour, Paua ramp and the ramp 10m from the front door if you wish. Fisherman's paradise! House is basic and has everything you need. It's warm and clean. We'll be back! Easy booking, friendly welcome. Thanks a lot.

Beautiful property in a one of a kind location. Caught some amazing fish! This property has everything you need for a great beachside holiday. The location is beautiful and a great way to get away from it all.

Great place in a fabulous location and we thoroughly enjoyed the fishing and our stay and will be back. One thing which would make the place a 10/10 is a BBQ to enable some outdoor cooking in the idyllic surrounds.

This is a very remote and stunning location in Far North of New Zealand. It's a classic old bach, like how holidays used to be in the good old days. We were a family of seven stayed for 3 nights. We had a fantastic stay surrounded by remote and tranquil solace. The location is also wonderfully close to the Te paki sand dunes and stunning beaches and Cape Reinga.

how could you not like this quaint little cottage and surrounds. only downside was having to leave!
John - Mar, 2013
Second vist to the mangrove batch and about the 20th to Parengarenga it is always a treat, the fact that we drove 15hrs from Wellington is indicative of how much we love the place. The house is the true iconic kiwi batch and is thoughtfully well stocked as it is a long way to the supermarket. The fishing can be mind-blowing though not always, bring a boat and you will be treated to some of the most jaw dropping scenery the whole country.
